About IV Sedation
It's important for you to have a positive experience by feeling comfortable and fully relaxed throughout your appointment. MINT dentistry in Galveston, TX is able to offer IV (intravenous) sedation for patients getting dental surgery. IV sedation is is typically only used during invasive or longer oral surgeries, such as wisdom tooth extractions and the placement of dental implants. IV sedation is an anti-anxiety medication that is administered directly into your bloodstream. The medication will keep you relaxed and calm during the procedure. Although you'll be conscious, you will be so relaxed it will seem like you were sleeping. Your medication levels will be carefully watched during your treatment to make sure you are safe and comfortable. If you are getting IV sedation, we will explain how it will work during your treatment planning session.
Intravenous (IV) sedation is recommended for those getting oral surgery. To make sure you can safely receive IV sedation, your dentist will review your medical history, current medications, and any health conditions. Your dentist can also explain other sedation techniques we offer before deciding on your best treatment plan. MINT dentistry is committed to helping you get the sexy teeth you want while keeping you safe and comfortable during every appointment.

What to Expect
To begin your visit, we will invite you to relax in a massaging treatment chair in a procedure room. We will give you a pair of stylish MINT dentistry sunglasses and Beats headphones. Once you're ready, we will insert a small needle in your arm so the medicine can begin to work. You should start to feel relaxed quickly. Once the sedation is in full effect, we will start your oral surgery. Once the surgery is finished, we will remove the IV and, in a few minutes, you will start to wake up.
Since it takes a while for the effects to leave your body, you shouldn't drive for a minimum of 24 hours after your appointment. You need to have a responsible adult take care of you. We suggest that for the rest of the day you relax and drink lots of water. You may feel nauseous or have some short-term memory loss. These side effects are common and should fade in a day or two. Adverse reactions after IV sedation are rare; however, if your side effects feel unusual or don't go away, please contact us right away.
The MINT Commitment
Depending on many factors, IV sedation may be partially covered if you have dental insurance. Before your appointment, we will speak to your insurance company to confirm the benefits of your policy. MINT dentistry also offers payment options and financial planning. MINT dentistry believes that all of your appointments at our office should be a stress-free experience. If you are concerned about the cost of sedation, ask for more information on the MINT Discount Plan, which can help fit your dental care and sedation into your budget.
